JIHA Christmas Charity
JIHA Christmas Charity
The Jakarta International Hotels Association (JIHA) has announced that all its members have committed to save trees by not sending Season’s Greetings cards to their clients this year, and have committed to use the money saved to support 3 charity bodies in the city. They are the Sekar Pramita Foundation who provide under privilege children with free schooling, Yayasan Citra Baru who help children and young people with cranio facial surgery and the Emmanuel Foundation who provides free food and education for malnourished children and scavenger trash-site communities.
With support from some of the most prestigious newspapers in Jakarta, the association will instead place prominent advertisements explaining the charitable program and wishing clients a joyful festive season and a prosperous 2009.
Association Chairman Mr. Poul Bitsch announced the program by saying that JIHA member hotels feel a responsibility to help protect the environment and help the community. “Our members are keen to do everything they can to make the world a cleaner and greener place. This new initiative is just part of an ongoing effort by all our members to make sure that their hotels are a shining example of responsible business practices and support for the community”.
The Jakarta International Hotels Association (JIHA) is made up of 4&5 star Hotels in Jakarta. With 32 active members, JIHA works along similar lines as other International Hotel Associations where members proactively address common issues and opportunities that impact the hotel industry in Jakarta.
