The Jakarta International Hotels Association (JIHA) is running a special emergency relief program to help the victims of the latest earthquake in Sumatra. The association has collected items such as clothes, blankets, towels and soap from its members to be sent to the victims. The donations are collected every day at the Hotel Borobudur Jakarta and distributed to the areas affected through Artha Graha Peduli, which has sent one airplane per day to Padang with the relief items since the day after the earthquake.

Staff from JIHA member hotels have also been donating a minimum of Rp 10,000 per person to the relief effort. Association Chairman Mr. Poul Bitsch announced the program, saying that JIHA member hotels are very eager to help. “Our member hotels and their staff are most willing to help their countrymen, who are in desperate need of any kind of assistance”.

The Jakarta International Hotels Association (JIHA) is made up of four and five star Hotels in Jakarta. JIHA has 33 active members and proactively addresses common issues and opportunities that impact the hotel industry in Jakarta.
