New Officers for JIHA
Members of the Jakarta International Hotels Association have elected Mr. Poul Bitsch, the General Manager of Hotel Borobudur Jakarta, and Mr. Riyo Adi Wisaksono, the General Manager of Le Grandeur Hotel Jakarta, as the new Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Association respectively. Mr. Bitsch who has completed his 2 years of office was re-elected again by the membership as stipulated in the JIHA Articles of Association.
JIHA is made up of 4&5 star hotels in Jakarta. The election was held during the Association’s recent Annual General Meeting, which took place on January 26, 2010. JIHA was notarized and formally established in the first quarter of 2000. With 33 active members, JIHA works along similar lines as other International Hotel Associations where members proactively address common issues and opportunities that affect the hotel industry in Jakarta.
The main objectives of JIHA are:
- To enable the hotels to pool their collective resources when addressing cost and expenses related issues, marketing opportunities, labor relations, government initiatives, security concern, industry opinion, etc.
- To enable this association to have a formal voice when regional and government decisions are being planned which affect the Jakarta hotel industry.
- To support initiatives, directions and activities of the relevant government agencies and industry bodies for the future growth and development the Jakarta hospitality hotel industry.
JIHA’s programs and activities include
- Destination promotion and sales missions
- Security measures
- Training, scholarship and HR development
- Industry surveys and statistical data
- Environmental issues
- Media and hospitality industry relation
- Charities and community related events
